We will go constantly up and down to the floor while challenging speed and timing. The classes start with improvisation tasks focusing on awakening our physical senses. Through touch and musicality we will open our body awareness, bring our attention in and out of ourselves and find new articulations that are unique to our bodies.
This will be followed by 'Flying Low' phrases in which we will go into details of the technique, exploring how we can combine qualities of softness and precision, directing ourselves through space and hopefully allowing ourselves to enjoy moving together. By working with the principles of the technique we can discover how we can use 'limitations' as space to grow in.
WHAT IS FLYING LOW Invented and developed by David Zambranno, 'Flying Low' class focuses mainly on the dancer's relationship with the floor. The class utilises simple movement patterns that involve breathing, speed and the release of energy throughout the body in order to activate the relationship between the center and the joints, moving in and out of the ground more efficiently by maintaining a centered state. There is a focus on the skeletal structure that will help improve the dancer's physical perception and alertness. The class includes partnering work and movement phrases, which explore the primary laws of physics: cohesion and expansion.
Before the class it is good to know that.. - It is recommended to come with long pants and sleeves so we will be able to slide more easily along the floor and use the momentum (but no obligations!!) - Different music genres will be played. - For advanced / professional class movement experience is necessary.
Flying Low has no reviews yet.
